Biography

Hein van Duppen is a spatial designer and visual artist with a background in urban planning and interior architecture. He lives in Utrecht and works on location. His field of operation is the public / shared / common / collective space: the place where people meet and different interests come together. His projects have an interdisciplinary approach, collaborating with residents, policy makers, biologists, scientists, designers and other artists. This leads to site-specific works of art; an intervention, an event, a sculptural space or the designing of a public space. He builds the projects himself by researching characteristics and appearance of materials. The public plays an important role in this process. By playing with the expectation, perception and imagination of the spectator Hein shows, reflects and gives new perspectives to the everyday.

Hein van Duppen graduated in 2016 from the Master of Interior Architecture (MIA) at the Sandberg Instituut in Amsterdam. He also studied one year at the Inter Architecture at the Gerrit Rietveld Academie in Amsterdam. In 2013 he received his (BBE) in Urban and Regional Planning at the NHTV in Breda.
