Cities are designed on the drawing board. From residential areas to the paving stone on the sidewalk. A system that is maintained and controlled by people. However, people cannot control everything, the city has other organisms as well. As soon as we lose control, urban flora and fauna take over. The project De Nieuwkomer is about 'wild' urban nature. The project title De Nieuwkomer (The New Commer) refers to the newly arrived plants and species. It is fascinating that they manage to adapt and settle in places where it seems impossible to live. I organized a performative photoshoot that gave attention to plants that you would normally pass by without noticing. The photos were taken on August 21, 2020 during the art manifestation 24x24 in Tilburg.
